Indeed, one could ask what was the economic value of 10 million soldiers’ lives lost on all sides of the conflict?Įqually controversial, perhaps, were the territorial adjustments dictated by the Versailles Treaty as well as other postwar treaties. While there were a few vocal critics of the Versailles Treaty’s economic provisions, many citizens of the nations that fought for four years felt the settlement did not go far enough. For example, when Russia surrendered to Germany in 1917, Germany issued extraordinarily harsh peace terms under the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk (these terms were invalidated by the Paris peace settlements). Reparations and harsh peace settlements were not unusual. We tend to think the reparations payments were controversial, but these provisions must be viewed in proper historical context. What were the treaty’s most controversial provisions? The treaty forced Germany to surrender colonies in Africa, Asia and the Pacific cede territory to other nations like France and Poland reduce the size of its military pay war reparations to the Allied countries and accept guilt for the war. The Allied nations ultimately rejected the idea of peace without victory in favor of making Germany pay for causing the war (in their minds) and for perpetuating and escalating the conflict for four long years. Given the contradictory aims of reparations and future stability, statesmen found themselves in a terrible bind. Meanwhile, France and other Allied nations wanted just compensation for the physical, moral and economic devastation of the war. The United States hoped to achieve, in Woodrow Wilson’s words, “peace without victory,” and Britain hoped to put Germany back on its economic feet. The treaty, signed on June 28, 1919, was the product of conflict between the Allied victors. What were the treaty’s major accomplishments? The Treaty of Versailles is famous for both solving and creating problems. Via an email exchange, Helstosky, who serves as chair of the University of Denver’s Department of History, offered the DU Newsroom a crash course in the treaty’s provisions and far-reaching ramifications. In Carol Helstosky’s class on the War to End All Wars, typically offered during spring quarter, the treaty provides students a lot to ponder and debate. 10, 1920, the controversial Treaty of Versailles - which established the terms for peace at the end of World War I - went into effect. has been placed in substitute care in this state, regardless of whether the student was enrolled in a public school in this state in the preceding school year.is a dependent of a member of the United States military who has been deployed or transferred to this state and was enrolled in a publicly funded school outside of this state in the preceding school year or.This includes both the analysis of the larger consequences of informatics systems and the criticism, design, and re-design of systems to address. and iSchoolUI adjunct lecturer, was featured with team member Tim Fox. was enrolled in a public school in this state in the preceding school year The School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign The Power of Information iSchoolUI. Tmuxinator has a very helpful command to work through these challenges as well. You should see a flurry of activity as tmux creates windows, panes, and executes your commands.ĭepending on the complexity of your setup, you may run into some unexpected bugs. Once you’ve saved your script, you can execute everything at once by issuing the command: If you need to execute many commands you can define another grouping here. Under each pane you then give the command to execute (e.g. ( even-vertical and even-horizontal are also options as defined in the tmux main page.) Next, we define the panes that get created inside each window using the layout. Within each window I set the layout to either main-horizontal, tiled, or main-vertical. You can rename these to whatever you’d like. (Adjusting the root can be useful if most of your commands start from the base of a project.) It then goes on to define three windows named status_things, io_things, and more_things. The script defines a name and an initial root directory. The structure is in a simple indented yaml format, so updating it is straightforward. This example script is quite silly, but you should be able to understand the general idea. If you want, you can also save and exit from the script and come back at a later time by running:Įdit your text file to have the following script: You can now start to make changes to your new script. So if you’d rather open the file in a different editor or commit changes into a Git repository, you can. Running any combination of shell commands should work fine. It’s best to refer to the official instructions in the event things don’t go right. Tmuxinator comes packaged as a Ruby Gem so installation should be as easy as: Let’s try it out! Setting up TmuxinatorĪssuming you have tmux already configured, setting up tmuxinator is pretty straightforward. The tool can create stored sessions by name and has a simple system for defining how things get positioned. Tmuxinator is a command line tool that helps to automate your tmux setup. Plus, I was still trying to be, uh, efficient. Tmuxinatorīuilding a script to talk to tmux might be fun, but it was going to take a complex configuration. You can also use C-m instead of Enter which appears to be a more standardized way of executing a command. The text Enter at the end informs tmux to send a carriage return and execute the text. This command will execute inside your tmux session and cd to your home directory. For example, if you have a tmux session open you can issue something like: One ability of tmux is that it can receive command line requests and perform them on active sessions. The Internet has many tutorials on tmux if you’re interested. It’s a terminal multiplexer that is like Screen, but has some extra capabilities. If you haven’t used tmux before, you should definitely give it a try. Now I’m not afraid of a little setup for doing my work, but running nine services gets old and I’m lazy…eh…I mean efficient. This particular application required launching nine server instances before the website would work. If that's too naive for your taste, there is always tmuxinator for pane management.Recently we inherited an existing codebase that uses a service oriented architecture. It's very handy to keep track of remote connections when you have many open, which is frequent in our line of work I think. If you are running inside screen (and you haven't changed the default $TERM) it first sets the window name to the remote host (together with any optional parameters). If you're not running screen this function just calls ssh as usual when executed. Skeletor may have given her support, but only for his own selfish purposes. She is given advice by Man-at-Arms and Beast Man who suggest that she use her power to get out from under Skeletor’s thumb instead. Lyn reminisces about the time she first met Skeletor and how she owes everything she has achieved in life to him. Although Lyn is now the sorceress, she is constantly belittled by Skeletor. He has had a glimpse of the entire universe thanks to his abilities, and he shares this image with Lyn. Back at the Castle, Skeletor is still trying to figure out how Adam was able to call on the power of Grayskull without the sword. Teela and Andra also stick around as they plan their next steps to dethrone Skeletor and strip him of the power of Grayskull. Adam leaps towards the camp in anger, ready to punish him out of resentment, but Randor has learned from his mistakes and finally shows his son the love that he deserved.Īdam returns to normal and is reunited with his mother and father. All of them are drawn to the sound of horns and arrive at the base camp of the Eternians, where King Randor is currently holed up. He and Skeletor get into a fight that begins to cause destruction in the city, so Teela repeats the transportation spell she heard the sorceress chant and successfully transports them to the mystic mountains.Īt the mountains, Teela, Andra, and Cringer lose track of Adam in his wild state. It turns him into a powerful yet primitive man, filled with rage and might. Later on, they come face to face with Skeletor and Adam decides to call on the power of Grayskull without the sword as a conduit. When Adam and the rest first arrive at the palace, Teela shows glimpses of new abilities as she cures Adam’s stab wound efficiently. After finding out that they were sent to the palace in Eternus city, he heads over and immediately turns the remaining civilians into an army of the living dead to serve him. Skeletor promptly murders the sorceress and makes Evil-Lyn the new sorceress of Grayskull so that she can tell him where the others have gone. He’s about to strike down Adam, but before he can do so the sorceress uses the last ounces of her strength to send them out of Castle Grayskull. Skeletor is hugely overpowered and he makes it count, easily subduing the rest. Teela (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Man-at-Arms (Liam Cunningham), Andra (Tiffany Smith), Cringer (Stephen Root), and the Sorceress (Susan Eisenberg) all do their best to hold him off.Įvil-Lyn (Lena Heady) and Beast Man (Kevin Michael Richardson) are back at Skeletor’s side and are engaged in combat with the heroes. Unfortunately, Masters of the Universe: Revelation has yet to set a release date for Part 2 just yet.The story continues with Skeletor (Mark Hamill), and his newfound strength attained with the sword of power, attempting to fulfil his dream of killing Prince Adam (Chris Wood), now that he is in a weakened state.
