Finding Nemo (3D) is the widest release of the week with 2,900 screens. Will next week be a more interesting week at the box office? Well, it does get a little geekier, which seemed to be a theme of the early summer business success. We’ll see how high the approved budget is, though. Really, it’s the foreign market’s that drove Sony to greenlight the sequel. It should be own tomorrow’s actual numbers, but that means it’s going to be up to the overseas markets to see if Spidey makes it all the way to $750M global. The Amazing Spider-Man, while still in a few theaters, did not show up on the weekend estimates. The Avengers picked up another $795K, but the $658 per screen average suggests that extremely long run is just about over. This is week 8 for the billion dollar film. Then again, the $1,653 per screen average was pretty good in the current context. The Dark Knight Rises is still hanging around the top 10 at #9 with the second highest percentage drop of the top 10 this week. Granted, it was barely a wide release with 1,511 screen, but $1.8M is a bit less than you expect from a Bruce Willis film. That’s a lot better than The Cold Light of Day’s opening average of $1,191 per screen. That’s actually a borderline good average for this slow week, but absolutely not what you want for opening week. The third slot is the lackluster debut of The Words, which managed a meager $1,785 per screen. The Possession and Lawless keep their positions from last week, albeit with less revenue.

Such borrowing of mushrooms is possible for the simple reason that a virtual fingerboard is subject to all the laws of physics and mechanics, like a real skateboard, and the elements and tricks of skating are implemented in accordance with the real physical environment. The fingerboard simulator allows you to do even more – invent and test new tricks to practice them on a real skateboard. On a fingerboard, you can perform the same tricks as on a skateboard, but with one big difference: that on a fingerboard, you can experiment with risking only the bones of your fingers. Touchgrind Skate 2 is an arcade fingerboard simulator.Ī fingerboard is something that is skateboarded with the fingers. Beginners will find the C-shaped neck with the satin finish to be extremely comfortable to play. It’s lightweight for a full-sized bass, which is one of the primary advantages over electric basses. Luckily, a simple truss rod adjustment through the sound hole works like a charm. Some people might find the action to be a little bit on the high side, which is not uncommon. The bass is very playable right out-of-the-box. The size is something you need to get used to if you want to get into playing bass. It might feel big if this is your first bass or you have smaller hands/physique. The instrument measures about 50” in overall length and has a 34” scale neck. The Dean EABC Acoustic Bass Guitar is only available in natural finish, but I don’t see that a dealbreaker in any manner. Other noteworthy features include sealed die-cast tuners, PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide) nut, Balsamo bridge and satin natural finish to complete the modern look. The great tonewood choice is complemented with Dean’s outstanding preamp system, but more on that a little later in this Dean EABC review. Abalone soundhole accent, multi-ply binding and pearl dot inlays on the fretboard are a nice touch. There’s not a lot you can do to make an acoustic bass stand out in terms of looks, but Dean doesn’t seem to have made any compromises with this model. The Rosewood fretboard houses 24 frets and sits nicely on top of a C-shaped neck. The Dean EABC Acoustic Bass features a select spruce top with mahogany back, sides and neck. There aren't many specifically UK-centric jokes, but the tone of the entire enterprise relies upon elaborately constructed slapstick and the frequent humiliation of the titular character. Check out the competition to find the model that best meets your needs, but right now, the Nikon Z50 is one of the best mirrorless cameras around.JPEG (EXIF 2.31). However, there's no built-in flash, so there's a trade-off there. But that device is a full-featured mirrorless camera and offers five-axis IBIS. And perhaps more importantly, the Nikon Z 50's feature set outshines that of the Canon model.Īlternatively, the compact, 20-megapixel Olympus OM-D E-M5 ($1,200 body only) will put a slightly bigger dent in your wallet if you don't already have Olympus lenses. But the EVF connects via the hot shoe, negating this camera's smaller body size, and I much prefer the Nikon Z 50's built-in viewfinder. At $1,100 for a single lens kit, it's competitively priced and also offers good image quality and performance. If you fancy more megapixels and a slightly smaller body, check out the 32-megapixel Canon EOS M6 Mark II. The two-lens kit is a great value, and between the two lenses, the combined focal lengths cover just about every situation you'll encounter, from wide angle to telephoto. And whether or not you already have Nikon lenses, the Nikon Z 50 should be on your radar thanks to its great image quality and broad feature set. Bottom lineĮntry-level DSLRs may be more affordable than most mirrorless cameras, but with the popularity of mirrorless continuing to grow, you've likely at least thought about going mirrorless. This placement feels a little awkward when you're taking a selfie, but more importantly, that position makes it impossible to use the tripod socket for a selfie stick or a tripod or monopod, effectively rendering this feature useless for vloggers. But folding down the LCD so it faces forward at the bottom of the camera is a bit problematic. But a tilting LCD is more useful than a fixed monitor, and the Z 50's 3.2-inch LCD is definitely a plus. If given the option, I'll take a fully articulating LCD over a tilting one like that of the Nikon Z 50. While reading and writing to the card didn't cause any logjams, it's surprising that UHS-II cards are not supported, especially with 4K video. More puzzling is that the single card slot supports only UHS-1 cards.
It’s basically the same as the Pro 900 but more expensive. Overall, it's the perfect choice for those looking for something that can make well-blended single-serving smoothies for a reasonable price. The blender has a 700-watt motor, is small enough to store in small kitchens, and isn’t as loud as other models we tested, meaning you can use it in an apartment complex without bothering your neighbors. Considering that the smoothie recipe called for two cups of kale, we believe this isn’t a dealbreaker and that you can easily adjust the ingredient measurements or blend them in increments. During our tests, we had to add half of the blueberry kale smoothie ingredients, blend it to a smooth consistency (about 30 seconds), add the remaining ingredients, and then blend for another 60 seconds to achieve a smooth consistency. The downside to a smaller blending cup is that it can be challenging to fit an entire smoothie recipe in one go. The blender includes two 16-ounce cups with lids suitable for individual servings that fit nicely in most cup holders for easy transport. We made a blueberry kale smoothie and a frozen banana protein shake, and both of them had a smooth consistency that was easy to sip through straws. This specific model is our best value pick because of its moderate price, user-friendly design, and outstanding results. It’s no surprise that NutriBullet and Ninja blenders performed well during our tests, as both brands produce powerful, high-quality appliances. Since the cup size is small, you might have to blend half your ingredients at a time. The 600-watt model was a strong contender but didn’t wow us enough to beat out other top performers, and the Rx Cooking Blender was too expensive for not being user-friendly. The Pro 1000 model made our list as our splurge-worthy pick but didn’t surpass the Pro 900 for the top spot because they essentially performed the same, but the former is $36 more. We also tested the Nutribullet Pro 1000, NutriBullet 600-Watt Personal Blender, and NutriBullet Rx Cooking Blender. That said, it’s probably best to carry it upright instead of tossing it in a backpack or gym bag. While we found the travel lids easy to drink from, there was a very small amount of leakage after we intentionally knocked a full smoothie cup off the counter. The cups and lids are dishwasher-safe, and the blade requires handwashing, so just be mindful of the sharp edges. For on-the-go smoothies, two flip-top lids allow you to protect and enjoy your beverage while traveling. If you have small hands, fear not, you can use the included lip rings with handles on your cup for fuss-free sipping. This blender comes with two 32-ounce cups big enough for hearty servings but still easy to hold. When evaluating the consistency of a blueberry kale smoothie with ice, we were impressed that there was virtually no berry skin or kale pieces after taking several sips through a straw. It packs a lot of power into a small device, featuring a 900-watt motor, so it has no problem crushing ice and frozen fruit. The cups don’t have measurement markings to help with recipes.Īfter earning perfect scores across all categories, we named the NutriBullet Pro 900 our overall favorite personal blender. Unfortunately, both of these fixes require low-level access to the serial debug port of the player, soldering wires to the motherboard, proprietary hardware and software tools as well as deep knowledge of the player’s architecture. At the time of writing this, no such updated firmware exists. The only ways to revive the player are: erase the invalid policy file from the flash partition, or update the firmware of the player with a version in which the XML parse bug has been corrected. Gray suggested this XML file was sent to the Blu-ray players without proper verification.īecause of the monumentally stupid idea of parsing a downloaded XML file unconditionally at every boot, there seems to be no way to recover the devices from the boot loop using normal means – such as a USB stick, CD or network – because the crash happens too early in the boot sequence. The device code appears not to have been designed to handle that possibility because the empty list produces an invalid memory reference in the device's main program, called bdpprog, which causes the kernel to terminate it.Ĭrashing the main program results in a reboot, but since the logging policy XML file is always processed early on after startup, the crash simply reoccurs before a fixed version of the file can be fetched. "Unfortunately for Samsung, the code which handles the processing of the log policy XML file has not been tested for such an empty element and causes a crash," Gray explained. Though a valid XML file, it contained an empty list element, we're told: The problem with the XML file, sent out on June 18, 2020, is that it wasn't formatted in a way compatible with the device's code. Samsung never asked the user if it was OK to download the bomb," said Gray, referring to the dodgy XML policy file. It was enough for the player to be connected to the internet. "Players were bricked even though the users never performed a network update. The firmware routinely automatically fetches, stores, and parses the logging policy file regardless of anything else. Also, it explains why players that never performed a software update nor used a network service, and were simply connected to the internet, were bricked. That's why, our source tells us, Samsung Blu-ray players that have never connected to the internet were not affected by the flawed file. After that notice is accepted, these Blu-ray players no longer bug their users with privacy notices, and simply quietly send the telemetry while the system checks for software updates.Īnd even if you don't use something like Netflix, or don't accept the privacy notice nor download a software update, but do connect the device to the internet, your player will still routinely fetch the logging policy file. The privacy notice comes into play when the customer connects the device to the internet and tries to use a network service like Netflix. The affected Blu-ray players, we're told, do not transmit their logs until a privacy notice has been accepted by the user. These logs include things like when you opened, say, the Netflix app and when you closed it on the player.Įxactly how much the device should log and transmit back to HQ is defined by Samsung in an XML logging policy file regularly fetched from this URL: This telemetry is sent to the tech giant's servers when the player's firmware is told to check for a software update. One thing you have to understand is that these internet-connected Blu-ray players in question are programmed to log their activities and send copies of this information to Samsung. Drilling inĪ Register reader who is savvy with low-level hardware, and asked to be identified simply as Gray, provided us a detailed technical analysis of Samsung's blunder. Crucially, the XML file would be parsed before a new one could be fetched from the internet, so once the bad configuration file was fetched and stored by these particular Samsung Blu-ray players in the field, they were bricked. Upon reboot, the player parsed the XML file again from its flash storage, crashed and rebooted again. This file, when fetched and saved to the device's flash storage and processed by the equipment, crashed the system software and force a reboot. However, it's been suggested to The Register that the cause of the failure was an XML file downloaded by the network-connected devices from Samsung servers during periodic logging policy checks. It was speculated by netizens and some media reports that a HTTPS certificate error was to blame.
